From the Foreword, "Today, the origin of the type can be better understood for, historically. Descripción:
The Marine Research Society; Salem, Massachusetts; 1930. First edition in dustcover. 11 5/8 x 8 1/2 inches, blue cloth-covered boards, gilt spine lettering (bright), top edge blue, 192 pp. Slight edge wear to tail of spine, else fine. Dustcover very good (mild fading; area of dampstaining on lower left aspect of front panel noticable over an area about two inches in greatest dimension; dampstaining also present on anterior spine aspect of dustcover, over about 4 3/4 vertical inches; mild soiling, mostly spine aspect; two tiny edge chips, the largest 1/8 inch; no tears). Multiple plates and plans. This is an important title which is quite scarce with a dustcover in any condition. The defects are described in detail for completeness, but this is a very attractive copy indeed. In particular, the area of dampstaining on the front panel of the dustcover is of modest size and in an area which reduces its visual impact.. F. Hardcover.
