Sobre este artículo
Lewiston, New York: Edwin Mellen Press, 2008. First edition. Hardcover. g+ to fine. Quarto. ixii, 651pp. Original illustrated gray cloth with black lettering on cover and spine. Edited, with introductions and bibliographies by Irving N. Rothman. "Although today I find myself going to mass producers of haircuts such as "Supercuts," in my youth, the barber shops of New York City were sites of gossip, news and vanity. They were filled with characters similar to the funny old Jewish man played by Eddie Murphy in the barber shop scene of the film, Coming to America (1988)... Professor Rothman's general introduction and the brief introductions to most of the selections are full of information and extremely insightful, especially in the case of some of the lesser known authors. In one case, he provides a masterful breakdown of the rhetorical figures used by one of the poets." (Novak). Illustrated with reproductions of engravings, drawings and b/w photographs. Light smudging in red on lower left corner of front cover, not affecting illustration.
