With numerous captioned, tissue-protected black & white photos of the environs of the Barbizon area and of some of the work of the artists described here. Top edge gilt, with deckled fore- and bottom edges. Covers with minor edgewear and one bumped corner. Some interior pages are loose, but textblock is mostly firm. Interior pages clean and bright. The Barbizon School of painters in France was a communal haven for artists. This work recounts a summer spent in the areas once frequented by Jean-Francois Millet, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Theodore Rousseau and Antoine Louis Barye. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 232 pages .
