It took three days each way for the carrier between Miami and Palm Beach to cover their route, walking along the beach.The mail was transported in this way from the very early days until the 1890's, at which time Flagler extended the railroad to Miami. A movie was made in 1951 and a DVD video in color with an approximate runtime of 79 minutes is included with the book. Of course, the movie version, while based on Pratt's book of the same name, has significant differences between the written story.
