Wodehouse, first published in the United Kingdom on April 21, 1952 by Herbert Jenkins, London and in the United States on May 8, 1952 by Doubleday & Company, New York, under the title Angel Cake. The book concerns the character Cyril "Barmy" Fotheringay-Phipps, who had previously appeared in Wodehouse's Drones Club and Jeeves stories, and his adventures in the theatrical world.
