Gaylord McIlvaine Du Bois was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts. His famous works include the Western Tarzan comics, The Jesse Marsh Years, Tarzan: The Jesse March Ye, The Jesse Marsh Year, Gene Autry in Law of the Range. Gaylord McIlvaine Du Bois often spelled DuBois was a notable American author of comic books and comic strips, also Big Little Books and children?s stories. Gaylord created Tarzan for Dell Comics and Gold Key Comics, and made more than 3,000 comics stories in his lengthy writing profession. Gaylord was very keen and adventurous and had a genuine passion for composing books with the usual locales. He was best in making Western stories, jungle comics and animal life comics. He wrote several authentic second articles for Western Publishing such as Captain Venture: Beneath the Sea, Leopard Girl, Two Against the Jungle and many others, but mostly he wrote stories for the company with certified characters. Some of the distinct categories for which he created comic book scripts, a few were of the social adventure types, especially Westerns, such as Red Ryder Comics where he wrote Little Beaver, The Fighting Yanks WWII article, and, especially, the Kyotee Kids Western series with 31 scripts. Gaylord had formerly been among the ghostwriters for the Red Ryder newspaper comic strip illustrated by Fred Harman.
