The front cover features a full color photograph of three key figures in the Boston Red Sox' pennant drive of 1967 during the final World Series game with the St. Louis Cardinals. Catcher Elston Howard listes as Manager Dick Williams (jacket) discusses the situation with ace pitcher Jim Lonborg in the sixth inning. At the time, the Cards led, 4-1, with runners on first and second with none out. The situation called for a bunt but, after this conference ended, Julian Javier didn't bunt. He slugged a homer to put the Redbirds ahead 7-1. Lonborg stayed in to reture the side but left for a pinch-hitter in the last half of the sixth. The Sox lost the game 7-2. The text includes a listing of all active field players, pitchers, managers. coaches in the major leagues in 1965 with biographical information, printed autograph, and career statistics. Few copies of these books have survived.
