[New York: E. & H. T. Anthony & Co, 1867. Unbound. Very Good. Stereograph card. 6.5" x 3.5". Gelatin silver photographs mounted on thick card. Two small stains on righthand image, corners a little rounded, very good. A modest crowd in the foreground faces the camera, while behind them is a baseball game played by two fully uniformed teams. A nice early baseball image of organized baseball, very likely from the mid-1870s. Interestingly, from a different source, we have another very similar card, obviously taken on the same day. The Anthony Brothers became the biggest distributor of photographic equipment in the U.S. Curiously, one of the Anthony brothers, Henry T. Anthony, was one of the original New York Knickerbockers ball players in the early 1850s, serving as both Treasurer and Vice President of the club.
