Basilisk Press, London, bookseller's catalogues, 1978 - 1986. Printed wrappers, large 8vo,. between 44 and 76 pp per catalogue, ills. . The Basilisk Press of London was founded in 1974 by Charlene Garry; the Basilisk Bookshop opened in 1977 to deal exclusively in the works of private presses and limited editions but closed in 1984 "as I grew bored by the non-bibliographic public asking 'Why is this book so expensive? And never listening to the explanation'. This is a good run of catalogues issued under the imprint "Basilisk Press & Bookshop" and later as "Basilisk Press" containing a wealth of information on private and fine press printing especially of the 1970s and 1980s. Good.

Prices are net, and postage and insurance (if required) are extra. Books sent overseas will normally be despatched by surface mail at printed paper rate unless air mail is requested. Alternatively we accept cash or cheques in UK Pounds (payable to Wykeham Books) drawn on a UK bank account. Prices are net, and postage and insurance (if required) are extra. We specialize chiefly in "books about books", the emphasis being on historical aspects of book collecting, production and distribution. A particular speciality is in bibliographies, of all subjects of interest to collectors, dealers and scholars, with several thousand bibliography titles in stock. Other strengths include extensive holdings of auction catalogues for book sales and a good selction of reference material on and facsimiles of illuminated manuscripts. We also have a special interest in rare material by or about Rudyard Kipling.
