An erotic novel featuring flagellation, birching, caning and other chastisements. The introduction states that this was written in London's Soho district and that it then appeared "on the Paris bookstalls." The protagonist, Mr. Howard, figures in flagellation novels published under the name of Charles Sackville, published between 1903 and 1911 by Charles Carrington at Paris; BASTINADO is a reprint of the second book in the Mr Howard series, Mr Howard Goes Yachting (c. 1908).
