An ex-library copy in orange cloth with gilt and red foil to type on spine. Top front and bottom rear corner dinged and a few smudges to cloth. Some patches to tops and bottoms of pastedown with llight paper scarring due to jacket protector once being glued down. Bookstore sticker, rental fee ""This book 15c a day"" written in and about a dozen due dates(all from 1974, the year of publication) stamped to front free endpaper. Rfep creased. Jacket is unclipped ($6.95) and glossy with some patchy fading, but no wear, tears or chips.
Sinopsis
If Beale Street Could Talk, James Baldwin's fifth novel is a love story set in Harlem in the early 70's. Young Tish and Fonny, who are in love and expecting a child. They plan on marrying until Fonny is falsely accused of a terrible crime and imprisoned. Their tragic love story paints a bleak picture of racism and injustice. It is the only Baldwin novel narrated by a woman.
