Cornelius Veth regarded her as one of the most important social satirists of the day.He wrote that she depicted modern society with modern boldness,using its own weapons to attack it with cynical understanding - 'the mock naivete of her drawings makes the shamelessness of the subjects acceptable. . . .It is a world where the girls,emancipated in the wrong way,are masters of a piteous situation.'He saw her drawings as 'morally speaking. . . . cruel, almost perverse,without however being wholly vicious.'
