very tall 8vo. 584pp, numerous full-page wood-engraved illustrations, contemporary half red calf, spine panelled by richly gilt decorated & highlighted raised bands, dark green morocco title label gilt, red morocco label lettered "Belmont College/ Prize 1876" onlaid on front cover, marbled sides and matching endpapers, edges gilt, fore-edge painting of Notre Dame Cathedral under the gilt on the fore edge, nice copy.
Printed prize label filled in in mss "French Prize/ Ist Class" from Belmont College, Bath, awarded to "F. Grosvenor" July 1876 pasted to front end paper.
