Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English novelist primarily known for his works of adventure fiction, including 'She' and 'King Solomon's Mines'. The majority of his works have exotic settings, primarily Africa, and he was an extremely prolific writer, producing over fifty novels, three short story collections and a number of non-fiction works and works published in periodicals. His works have been adapted for screen many times.With sixteen pages of publisher's advertisements bound to the rear.Illustrated with sixteen full plate illustrations by Gordon Browne. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally lovely, spine is a touch faded with slight bumping to the head and tail. Ownership inscription to the half title page. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
