Sobre este artículo
[Np: np, nd]. Platemark trimmed, overall: 6;⅞ x 4¼ inches. Mounting remnant to verso; scattered foxing.
Engraving by Conrad Westermayr, signed "C. Westermayr f." showing Benjamin Franklin with his iconic glasses. On Charles Nicolas Cochin's 1777 portrait, Sellers wrote: "This was probably the first likeness of Franklin taken after his arrival in France. It was certainly by far the most popular. The Canadian fur cap is worn in sturdy independence of fashionable usage, and the Doctor's mouth, and the glance through his spectacles, carry out the idea." (Catalogue of the Society's Exhibition of Portraits of Benjamin Franklin, 373)
Carson Collection 1337 - "Very rare." Mitchell Sale 645 - "Very rare."
Sinopsis
One of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, Benjamin Franklin was a true Renaissance Man: writer, publisher, scientist, inventor, diplomat and politician. In his long life of eighty-four years, he offered advice on attaining wealth, organized public institutions, contributed to the birth of a nation, and negotiated with foreign powers to ensure its survival. Through the words of the elder statesman himself, The Autobiography and Other Writings presents a remarkable insight into the man and his accomplishments and additional writings from Benjamin Franklin’s wife and son provide a more intimate portrait of the husband and father who found himself a legend in his own time.
