Sobre este artículo

Europe, U.S.: 1960-1973. 4to photo album (13" x 11.5"). Total of 124 original photographs (approx. 2" x 3" to 8" x 10"), 33 of them inscribed, 25 color photos, 2 photos affixed to front and back paste-downs, 1 photo loose. Manuscript captions under the majority of images, rice paper protectors.

A delightful photo album evidently compiled by Beppo and Mary Wallenda, chronicling thirteen years of their circus tours throughout Europe and the U.S.

Vividly depicted in this album is the world of European and American circuses and traveling circus troupes with a mixture of publicity shots and intimate candid photos, many of them inscribed affectionately to Beppo and Mary. Beppo Wallenda here takes on the persona of both a Sad Clown with a trombone, as well as a goofy Cowboy Clown in a trio called the Wallenda Comp.-shown in the album making a movie. Multiple circuses are represented such as the Cirque Amar in France, Tom Pack's Show in New Orleans, Theatre Caumartin in Paris, Cirque Medrano, Mills Bros. Circus, Ringling Bros. in New York City, and more in Denmark, Great Britain, Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, and Sarasota, Florida. Troupes pictured include the The Cosmos, Ben Mohamed Troupe, Three Houcs, Flying Gaonas, Les Contins, Chesners, the Marconi's, Italo Medini, the Hassani's, the Del Rae's, the Great Wallendas, and a variety of individual aerialists, jugglers, a contortionist, animal trainers, dancers, gymnasts, clowns, and so forth. Beppo was a relative of noted German-American tightrope walker Karl Wallenda (1905-1978), and performed with Bertram Mills from at least 1952 to 1959.

CONDITION: Very good.
