Discovered the bundle of His, a specialized tissue in the heart transmitting electrical impulses and helping synchronize contraction of the cardiac muscles. One of first to recognize that "the heartbeat has its origin in the individual cells of heart muscle." INSCRIBED by His in German at top of front cover. Also in the rear endppr is a long note in English from someone who visited His in his home in Berlin and described the home, his impressions of His and also their medical interests, dated April 21, 1929. His' paper is about the natural inequality of man, and was quoted in Nazi "racial purity" writings. 29 pp. Buff printed covers. . Very Good. Soft cover. 1928.
