The author was a 19 year old Army soldier in World War II who saw action in Australia, New Guinea, South Pacific Islands, and a D-Day landing on Luzon. During these actions, the author kept a journal which provided the both sanity and sanctuary in his daily entries amidst the immediacy of danger, and the tedium of work, heat, humidity, and mind numbing routine. After surviving four campaigns and over 300 air attacks, he and his company was sent to Japan to occupy the Yokohama area after the two atomic bombs were dropped. This diary is a rare window into the world of boys suddenly transported into a world of impossibility and sudden death. A clean very presentable copy.
