London: Bickers & Son, 1871. Bewick, Thomas. Quarto. xl, 312pp. A large paper reprinting of the Newcastle Edition by Thomas Saint in 1784. Bewick's engravings, with their classic compositions and sharp details, here adorn an array of fables. Text pages bordered in red rules. Bound in half blue leather with gilt tooling. Some exterior rubbing, gathering of first four sheets detached, lower front joint split. A good copy, otherwise internally clean. (Tattersfield, vol. 2, p. 624).
