Stoke on Trent: Michelin Tyre Company Limited, 1966. 6 x Bound bi monthly Magazines: Bibendum was the name given to the new internal Michelin monthly magazine, first published in April 1936 by the Michelin Tyre Company Limited. This employee news magazine incorporated its predecessor MAC News, created in November 1934, which only reported on news and activities concerning the Stoke based Michelin Athletic Club (MAC). This new regular publication was designed for a much broader audience embracing all the brotherhood and sisterhood of Michelin throughout the United Kingdom, including the team of sales representatives busy 'on the road' selling Michelin tyres. The early magazine content was quite varied and included many regular features. There was a keen emphasis on sports and social events, as well as births, marriages and deaths. Bibendum was very informative too, highlighting other Michelin activities throughout the world, features about local villages or places of interest, and commercial references about customers and their vehicles equiped with Michelin tyres. Employees also regularly contributed via articles, poems, stories, cartoons and quizzes.Although the magazine's name, shape, size, frequency and even content has evolved and modernised over the years, BibNews, as it is presently known, continues to be published and made available to all employees throughout the Michelin UK group.
