New York: Butler Bible-Work Company, 1892. First printing. Hardcover. Very Good. This volume only. Tall 8vo, 10 x 7.25 inches, publisher's brown cloth gilt, very good, light wear and dustiness, some brownish stains to bottom edge and fore-edge and go into the margins very shallowly. Dr. Butler was born in Brooklyn, and was a son of Silas Butler. After being graduated from the Yale Theological Seminary with the class of 1850, he was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry in 1852. For a brief time he served in a pastorate in Williamsburg, and then for sixteen years was pastor of the Walnut Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Dr. Butler was the author of "The Bible Work," a series of eleven volumes, which took him twenty years to compile. His other works include "Topical Analysis of the Bible," "Vital Truths Respecting God and Man," and "The Fourfold Gospel." He died in 1916.
