Camp Chesterfield was founded in 1891 and is home of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists, offering Mediumship, Faith Healing, Psychic Readings and Spiritual Development Classes, which are all still active today. The Rev. Lillian Dee Johnson (1898-1975) was a medium and one of the founders of the Universal Spiritualist Association after the disruption of the Spiritualist Episcopal Church in 1956, housed at Camp Chesterfield, which became divided over moral charges brought against one of the main mediums.
