No bibliographical reference library is complete without Sabin. In BIBLIOGRAPHY, ITS HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT, Breslauer/Folter call this: "the most important of all Americana bibliographies, comprising well over 100,000 entries." They go on to say: "Sabin, a New York bookseller, started this compendium, but it was Wilberforce Eames, the learned bibliographer at the New York Public Library, who added an immense amount of out-of-the-way detail." The work was brought to a conclusion by R. W. G. Vail in 1936 with assistance from Dr. Lawrence C. Wroth and many others.
