Consolidated Gas expanded and eventually acquired steam, gas and electric companies (including Edison's) serving New York City and Westchester County. "By 1932, New York Edison's parent company, Consolidated Gas, was the largest company in the world providing electrical service," concludes the company website. "In 1936, with electric sales far ahead of gas sales, Consolidated Gas changed its name to the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc." [American Oil & Gas Historical Society]

"Copyright September 1926."/ "The wonderful changes in structural outline are indicated by the photograph taken from the air in October, 1924, from a height of more than two and a half miles, and by a later photograph, taken last October [1925], which shows additional and interesting changes in the skyline of the city since that time." The folded leaves contain the aerial photographs (by Hamilton Maxwell, Inc.); the frontispiece contains the 1924 view, the others being details from, presumably, the 1925 view.
