Dressler won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Min over fellow nominees Irene Dunne, Marlene Dietrich, Norma Shearer, and Ann Harding. The Dressler-Beery partnership proved so appealing that they were reunited three years later in both *Tugboat Annie* and *Dinner at Eight*. Lorna Moon bore a son out of wedlock to director William DeMille, with the child being raised by Cecil B. DeMille.
