Red coloured textured boards with black coloured titles to the spine. This book is a reprint of the fifth Biggles book where Biggles and his friends find themselves in Soviet Russia. This reprint of Biggles fifth adventure – The Black Peril – is has been significantly altered to the original printing. There is no easily ascertained date of this book's printing, but on the verso of the rear panel it states "Made and printed in Great Britain by Purnell and Sons, Ltd, Paulton (Somerset) and London”, with no SBN. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges; with, rubbing of the top book corners and lower book edges. Very light tanning of the text block edges and pages. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with a rather significant rub to the back strip – please see photograph. Some handling marks to the dustwrapper. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). Sinopsis

W. E Johns was born in Bengeo, Hertfordshire in 1893. During the First World War he served in the Machine Gun Corps, and then in the Royal Flying Corps. In 1918 he was shot down and captured in France. His first book, The Camels are Coming , was published in 1932.
