Alexander Sacharoff, (1886 - 1963), dancer, choreographer, painter and teacher, together with his artistic partner Clotilde von Derp, created his own form of modern dance, a kind of abstract pantomime. The couple also designed their own costumes, famous for their sophistication. Alexander Sacharoff and Clotilde von Derp are considered one of the most famous couples in the history of dance. Fine. Scarce thus.
Master bookbinder, Victor Santos, was the first generation of bookbinders in his family, and began as an 11 year old, apprenticing at a bookbinder workshop. Throughout the years he developed his own style and skill in binding, and is now considered one of the top bookbinders and gilders of his time from Portugal.
