Full thin-leather-bound with stamped gilt spine titles. 12mo; 7.5 inches tall; 682 pages; New Edition; Tissue guarded frontispiece of Prescott; all edges gilt. Faint sun-fading on the spine, partial fold 1.5 inches from the front edge of front cover. Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear.. All of the essays except the first were originally contributed to the North American review.
