Charlottetown, PEI: Printed for the Author, 1888. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. The interior of the book is clean and tight. The paper covering the front and back hinges has cracked, and the paper has darkened slightly. The frontispiece with accompanying tissue guard are present. The brown cloth covers show light handling, and wear and rubs to edges and corners, with small spots of cardboard showing in several places. A nice, tidy copy. Note: Whelan was a leading Prince Edward Island politician and newspaper editor. A Liberal, he broke ranks with his party to support Confederation in British North America, and he was defeated in the election of 1867 and died soon after.
