Translated from the original German, this is an authorative account of the world's bird species: how they came about; their biology; migration and decline, etc. Covers birds from all regions of the globe, including Antarctica. Accompanied by some outstanding colour photography and line drawings. Contains 218 pages, 24.5 x 17cm, with 44 colour plates and numerous half-tone illustrations. Beige cloth boards in pictorial dust jacket showing slight damage to inside flaps and rear, due to partial separation of plastic laminate applied by original owner, otherwise in fair condition.
