London: Bernard Quaritch, 1907. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Dark green hardback with a leather spine to which has been laid the original gilt lettered backstrip. Rubbed and darkened, nonetheless firm with strong joints. Contents sound and clean, just a slightly age toned. No pen-marks save an old former name to the upper corner of the front blank. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Size: 285mm x 205mm. Collation: pp. xi, 158 and 21 hand finished plates (heightened with Arabic gum) by Keulemans, a frontispiece, 22 other photogravure plates, and a coloured map. Thus a very good copy. Scarce.
