Sobre este artículo
Black Beauty is an 1877 novel by English author Anna Sewell. It was composed in the last years of her life, during which she remained in her house as an invalid. The novel became an immediate best-seller, with Sewell dying just five months after its publication, but having lived long enough to see her only novel become a success. With fifty million copies sold, Black Beauty is one of the best-selling books of all time. While forthrightly teaching animal welfare, it also teaches how to treat people with kindness, sympathy, and respect. Throughout, Sewell rails - in a gentle, 19th-century way - against animal maltreatment. Young readers will follow Black Beauty's fortunes, good and bad, with gentle masters as well as cruel. Children can easily make the leap from horse-human relationships to human-human relationships, and begin to understand how their own consideration of others may be a benefit to all.
Green clot, embossed with horse and rider on front, horse is black, female rider in gold, gold lettering for title and writing on spine. this is a top rate copy, colors are bright, no fading,no marking, solid, no bumped corners. Very slight foxing to free end papers text is bright and clear. Neatly written on front, free end pape, Rena F Hoyt. Jan. 14, 1898. Has all the criteria for the american Humane Society Edition, instructions on how to humanly euthanize animal humanly, and 15 pages at the end of book to eplain and encourage people to join and participate in this newly formed organization to protect animals.
