Originally published in Japan Quarterly in installments and in 1966 as "Kuroi ame" in Japanese. Considered to be the first "true work of art inspired by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima" a story of a woman caught in the radioactive "black rain" that fell after the bombing. Filmed in 1989 as a Japanese film by director Shohei Imamura.
