History of the Blackwall Yard, shipbuilders on the Thames since 1611; voyaging in the days of the East India Company, men & sailors of the Blackwall ships; includes many b/w reproductions of old prints of these elegant ships, color plates of various flags & ensigns. First American edition, printed for Lauriat by James Brown & Son, Glasgow. Scarce in the jacket. Hardcover, full blue cloth with gilt lettering and blind-stamped decoration; gilt top edge. Light wear to spine ends; lower corners lightly bumped; bookseller's label (Lauriat's own) on front end sheet. Jacket price clipped with chips at the head of the spine; small hole in jacket spine; short closed tear to top front panel; shows some rubbing. Text clean; xv, blank, 332 pages with appendix and index; many b/w and a few color plates, drawings.. First American Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 6" by 8¾".
