[irvine, CA): Suntup Editions, 2022. Limited Edition. Thick Octavo. Artist edition. Limited to 1000 copies signed by Marcel Bolivar who created the illustrations and Maxime Plasse who illustrated the map of Perdido and the family tree. Color frontispiece, 870pp. plus the covers of the original paperback series published in 1983 in color. One of the finest writers of Southern Gothic horror in the late 70s though the mid 90s, who unfortunately died young of AIDS in the 1990s. Stephen King has praised him for this genre, and his writing style is very literary/descriptive. Blackwater was originally published as a serial novel in 6 paperback originals, and is considered McDowell's magnum opus. Here, the whole saga has been published by Sunup in one volume, with incredible illustrations. A fine bright copy bound in green cloth lettered in black, spine lettered in gilt over black, in a fine pictorial dust jacket and housed within its faux aligator skin slipcase,
