Signed presentation copy inscribed by the author, novelist, playwright, screenwriter, and film director Garson Kanin to film and television actor Arthur Hill and his wife, inscribed: “For Peggy & Arthur with love, Gar, 1959.” Near fine lightly used copy in a very good lightly dust soiled dust jacket with some fading to the spine. Garson Kanin’s work as a film director includes such memorable films as Adam’s Rib, The Marrying Kind, Pat and Mike, and many more. Arthur Hill starred in the film version of Michael Crichton’s provocative novel The Andromeda Strain and also appeared in Futureworld which was based upon an original screen story by Crichton and was the sequel to Westworld which Crichton directed. In addition to his acclaimed title role in the popular TV series Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law, Arthur Hill has appeared in numerous motion pictures including Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes (as the narrator), A Little Romance with Laurence Olivier, The Killer Elite directed by Sam Peckinpah, Rabbit, Run based upon John Updike’s best-selling novel also starring James Caan and Carrie Snodgrass, The Chairman, Petulia, Harper with Paul Newman and Lauren Bacall, and many more.
