Sinopsis
The Blue Castle is a novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, best known for her novel Anne of Green Gables (1908). One of Montgomery's first and only novels intended for an adult audience and the only one set outside of Prince Edward Island, The Blue Castle tells the story of Valancy Stirling, a twenty-nine year old spinster, who lives a drab life with her overbearing mother and prying aunt in the fictional town of Deerwood, based on Bala, Ontario. After visiting the doctor because of chest pains, Valancy receives word that she has only a year to live. As she expands her limited horizons, Valancy undergoes a transformation, discovering a new world of happiness. What may initially seem to be a simple and uncomplicated love story offers fertile ground for contemplation.
