An exquisite limited edition of romantic poems by Jean Noury illustrated with elegant pochoir scenes by the French orientalist painter, George-Pierre Guinegault. Each leaf is shared between the letterpress poem and a large circular stencil-printed illustration of lovers at play. This beautifully preserved item is a one of five hundred numbered copies printed on Arches paper. No dust jacket. Softcover is significantly torn at the spine head and tail and the textblock signatures are visible as a result, the spine is also creased and the bottom corner of the textblock is crumpled/folded. The binding is cracked as a result of the spine wear and can be seen from the inside at the start of the "Planches" section (full-page black and white illustrations); please handle carefully as the pages can start to detach. There are small tears along the edges of the cover and nicks along the fore-edge. Cover is soiled, smudged, and the plate on the front is creased and nicked.
