First Edition. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. This is a work of fiction by Joan Didion which follows a 'personal and political tragedy' that takes place in the fictional Central American country of 'Boca Grande'. Loosely based upon El Salvador, the novel is narrated by an American expatriate named Grace Strasser-Mendana and was first published in 1977. Joan Didion (1934-1021) was an American writer who was heavily involved in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. She is known for her essays and political writings, and won the Pulitzer Prize for 'The Year of Magical Thinking'. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minimal bumping to the head and tail of spine and light fading to the margins of boards and spine. Dust wrapper is excellent, with age-toning to the margins of the wraps, including the fly leaves, reverse, and spine region of reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Sinopsis

A Book of Common Prayer is a 1977 novel by Joan Didion. It is a story of both personal and political tragedy in the imaginary Central American country of "Boca Grande. " In 1983 Didion would publish Salvador, a book of essays on corruption and violence in El Salvador; the fiction and non-fiction reflect a similar perspective of rage and despair.

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
