Smith studied sculpting under Nollekens and mezzotinting under John Keyse Sherwin, after which he was employed in the making of topographical prints and in teaching drawing. In 1816 he was appointed Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum. In addition to the present book of autobiographical reminiscences, Smith published works on the antiquities of London and Westminster, a biography of Nollekens, and an illustrated book on London beggars, entitled Vagabondiana.. 1st Edition. Hardcover.
