Sobre este artículo
London: Martin Secker, 1930. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8.5" by 5.5". None. The first UK edition of this fascinating work which brings to life the formal world of Old China. First UK edition. A rich fantasy following Shu Yee, a merchant in Nanking, who sets his heart on acquiring the magical books of the Emperor Wu Ti which hold the key to all knowledge. Written by Walter Meckauer, a German-Jewish writer. Translated by Joseph John Saville Garner, a British diplomat who served as the British High Commissioner to Canada. In the original yellow cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor fading to the spine. A small mark to the edge of the front board. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light shelf wear and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and light discolouration to the panels. Minor loss from chipping to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good
