Hardcover is clean with light wear to spine ends and corners, light soiling outer edge of pages. Interior is clean and unmarked other than a little age tanning and some tape marks inside both covers. Jacket has light edgewear, light stain to interior, age tanning, a few tiny tears and chips, larger chip out of back of spine, not clipped. With all the vigour and liveliness that has marked his other absorbing books about the Canadian west, James H. Gray writes of the flagrant abuses of those free-wheeling years, and of the rise of the active, vocal, and ultimately successful campaign for total prohibition....; 8vo; From roughly 1914 to 1924 the three prairie provinces were legally dry. ... The vast majority of people in the west approved of & supported prohibition legislation. Yet by 1925, all three prairie provinces had repealed the prohibition legislation.... .
