The book was the basis of the delightful motion picture of the same name directed by George Cukor starring Judy Holliday, William Holden and Broderick Crawford, which was a success both commercially and artistically. In 2012, the film was added to Library of Congress' National Film Registry, a list of significant American films selected for preservation.
