Constable, 1901. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1901. No Edition Remarks. 295 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with a black and white illustrated frontis and illustrated plates throughout. Major water damage and tanning to pages with slight dog-eared pages throughout and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering with exposed netting and rough cut edges to text block. Boards have visible sunning and rubbing with notable bumping to corners. Soft crushing to spine ends and heavy sunning to spine.

Westminster: Archibald Constable and Co, 1896. Each of the 8 Volumes have a Monochrome Frontis illustration protected by tissue guard. That of Vol. I of the Life is a Portrait of Dr Johnson. All these Volumes are Dated 1896. The 2 Volumes of the Tour are Dated 1898. Vol I has an illustration of Edinburgh and Vol II of Iona. These 2 Volumes have Notes by Scott, Croker, Chambers & Others. All in matching Dark Red Cloth covers with bright Gilt Ionic Columns & Lettering on spines and blind stamped |Ionic Columns on fronts & backs. Top page edges Gilt, other edges untrimmed. Just under 7" Tall. Attractive illustrated Bookplates on the Tour Volumes. No inscriptions. Some spots of foxing to endpapers & title pages, only a very occasional spot in the text pages.
