Handsome first edition of this author's first book, a tale of the American Dream set in small town Illinois. Nicely inscribed by the author on the title page "To HVP, a salt-of-the- / earth person who helped break / me in at Compton's. / With all best wishes / Don Lawson." (Lawson served as managing editor of "Compton's Pictured Encyclopedia.").
