On May 3rd, 1945, during the bitter battle for Okinawa, 25 kamikaze planes attacked the ships on radar duty off the island. In a fierce 60 minute battle tow ships were sunk and the USS Aaron Ward was set afire from bow to stern by the 10 kamikaze planes that slammed into her. 80 men were killed and more tha n 150 men were wounded. All 25 kamikaze planes were either crashed or were shot down. This is the incredible but absoutely true account of the bravery and heroism of the men and the ships of the Unit e d States Navy. A black marker line on all three side edges of book. 2 small black marker spots on front cover outside edge. Some light browning of page borders. Spine is nice and tight..
