Sobre este artículo
Breve difesa dei diritti delle Donne, this "brief defense of women's rights" is a milestone in the Early Modern Italian debate on gender. The eighteenth century was a crucial period in the struggle for human rights, culminating in the proclamation of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in 1789, yet this important document lacks giving women equal rights. Such injustice has facilitated many reactions throughout Europe, including the present Italian proto-feminist treatise by Rosa Califronia - apparently a pseudonym, their real identity remained unknown - who argues that human rights and education should be provided to women too as their mental capacities and intellectual abilities are equal to men.
Rare on the market.
