Sobre este artículo
LOVELY. APRIL LIVES IN THE SUBURBS OF PHILADELPHIA. SHE HAS MANY FRIENDS AND ENJOYS HER BROWNIE SCOUT TROOP VERY MUCH. Ms. De Angeli, known for her picture
story books about some of the specific cultures of America - has written about April and her family who are African-Americans. Here is a glimpse into the 1940's and how April, as her 10th birthday approaches, is surprised and saddened to learn about prejudice and the possible limits to her dreams because of discrimination. Her mother guides her, her troop leader is on her side - so we can guess she will deal with it and thrive.
Uncommon, Stated First Edition title in the De Angeli's series. Marguerite De Angeli's full- page color illustrations and b/w drawings bring us into April's world. Square. small 4to. Green cloth with red stamped design and colorful eps. Book's cover has a few spots (mostly at edges of back cover) where the green has lightened, gift inscription dated 1946 is on the blank page facing list of "Books By".. and pg before the title page. A tight and clean copy in the dust jacket which has some small chips to 2 corners and spine tips, light soiling, scratch mark to one of the Brownie's face, o/w Good. VG copy in a Good, unclipped dj
