Black and white illustrated frontispiece, showing "Service Is Power", illustration from the book of army pageant, 1910. The text is copiously illustrated (176 in all) with either black and white illustrations or photographs, and line drawings. Blue coloured boards with gilt Thames and Hudson 'logo' on the front panel and gilt writing on the spine. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the bottom edges of the book as well. Dust marks to the top paper edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing "soldiers drilling by J.A. Atkinson" with black writing on the front panel and white on the spine. Minor creasing and rubbing to the top dustwrapper edge. "In a wide-ranging account Major Haswell sketches the medieval background but concentrates on the 300 years of the regular army, leading up to its role in the 1970s.". Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. We seem to specialize in non mainstream stuff but read and stock Science-fiction, fantasy, detective fiction, history, biography and true crime, war, natural history. cooking, children's books and try to avoid current text books.We probably have the largest collection of Science Fiction, Penguins and general crime in Victoria in an open shop ( David has 8 bookcases 900mm x 2200mm of sf and f) ( Penny has 8 bookcases 1200mm x 2400 of sf and f )On shelf each shop has 30,000 plus books and we list over 30000 books online
