War modifications are dealt with in some depth although there was little standardization within a class, but by the close of hostilities there was a move towards ore homogeneity in modification with the more modern classes. Very nice photo illustrated dust jacket in protective mylar. As with all categories of combatant warships, British cruisers were below the required strength at the beginning of World War II. 27 new units were building or under order. Not one had been completed by the outbreak of the war. Nice tight binding.
